Tamil actor Karthik Sabesh dies aged 37, days after uncle Deva's death

Tamil actor Karthik Sabesh has died at the age of 37 at a private hospital in Chennai, IANS reported.

Sources close to the family told IANS that Karthik, the son of music director Sabesh and the nephew of late music director Deva, had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. He breathed his last at around 11.15 pm on Monday night. Details of his illness have not been made public.

Karthik is survived by his wife, Ramya Karthik, and their two daughters. His mortal remains were to be taken home for public homage, with the last rites scheduled for 4.30 pm on Tuesday at the Valasaravakkam burial ground in Chennai, according to IANS. The Free Press Journal confirms the funeral is set for 4.30 pm Tuesday at the Valasaravakkam crematorium.

Karthik appeared in several Tamil films, including Dum, Vallavan, Pattathu Yaanai and Kulir 100.

His death comes just three days after that of his uncle, veteran music composer Deva, who died on October 17. The family had already suffered a loss in October 2025, when Karthik’s father, music composer MC Sabesan, died in Chennai on October 23 at the age of 68.
