Jodie Turner-Smith sued over claims she enabled brother's alleged sexual misconduct and drug use

British actress Jodie Turner-Smith is being sued alongside her brother, Richard Smith, in a Los Angeles lawsuit that alleges she enabled his drug use, sexual misconduct and narcotics trafficking, according to court documents reviewed by Entertainment Weekly and the New York Post.

Three anonymous plaintiffs, filing as Jane Does, claim in the suit, filed on Thursday 24 September, that Richard Smith invited them to gatherings at his Los Angeles residence where they were exposed to narcotics, firearms and sexual activity. Jane Doe 1 claims she was isolated in a bedroom in a 2024 incident and impeded from leaving, while Jane Doe 2 says she moved into Smith’s residence in 2023 and experienced drug use, drug sales, sexual parties and conduct that made her fear for her safety.

The lawsuit alleges Turner-Smith “knowingly continued providing housing, financial assistance, transportation, or other substantial assistance” to her brother despite knowing about his conduct. The claims against the actress include allegations of property-related negligence, negligence per se, child endangerment and aiding and abetting, according to reporting by the Express Tribune. The suit further alleges she gifted her brother an Audi that was used to transport packages allegedly containing narcotics across state lines.

The plaintiffs are seeking undisclosed compensatory damages and a jury trial.

Turner-Smith’s representative has firmly denied the claims. “This is a fictional lawsuit filed by someone who has been harassing Jodie while hiding behind the name Jane Doe,” the representative told Entertainment Weekly. “The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system.”

All allegations remain unproven, and no court has made any findings against Turner-Smith or her brother.
