Patrick Clancy tells 60 Minutes he has forgiven Lindsay Clancy and is starting a family

Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, has given his first televised interview since the mistrial in her murder trial, telling CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday night that he has forgiven her for the deaths of their three children and that he and his new wife are starting a family.

“I felt that if I didn’t get there, I would be eaten up inside forever,” Clancy, 36, said, adding that he believes her mental illness caused the killings, The Times and the Hindustan Times reported.

Clancy appeared alongside his new wife, Dr Rachel Danis, whom he married in April at the Ladies Pavilion in New York’s Central Park, and the couple confirmed they are starting a family, People and the New York Post reported.

Their three children — five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan — were killed in January 2023 at the family home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Callan survived for four days in hospital before dying in his father’s arms, Clancy told the programme.

Lindsay Clancy’s trial ended in a mistrial on 4 September after 11 of 12 jurors were ready to clear her of criminal responsibility on the grounds of postpartum psychosis, with one holdout siding with prosecutors, the Associated Press reported. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.

Clancy, who testified for the prosecution, also described suffering a panic attack during his testimony and being taken to hospital in an ambulance before returning to finish giving evidence.
