Police investigating Presley Gerber's death as suspected overdose

Santa Monica police are investigating the death of model Presley Gerber, 27, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, as a suspected overdose; he died on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility and the official cause has not been determined.

Police in Santa Monica are investigating the death of model Presley Gerber as a suspected overdose, authorities announced on Monday. Gerber, 27, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reviewed by Entertainment Weekly and USA Today.

In a press release, the Santa Monica Police Department said officers responded at about 9.35am on 20 September to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street, where they found an adult male dead. The county medical examiner identified him as Presley Gerber. Police said there was no indication of foul play, and the official cause and manner of death have not been determined.

A family representative confirmed Gerber’s death and asked for privacy. “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the statement said. TMZ was first to report the news.

Gerber, the eldest child of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actor Kaia Gerber, began modelling at 15. He went on to work with major fashion houses including Calvin Klein, Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana. In recent years he had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and addiction, sharing aspects of his recovery journey.
