Lacianne Carriere, the younger sister of RJ Mitte, broke down in tears while delivering a eulogy at the Breaking Bad actor’s memorial service in Brownsville, Texas, on Friday, Page Six reported.

Carriere told mourners at the family’s Mitte Cultural District that she had “not only just lost a brother, [but] lost my father”, saying Mitte took on a father role after their single mother was paralysed in an accident in her infancy. “I just really miss my brother,” she added.

She described Brownsville as his community: “He loved it here and he loved all of you and he loved this city.” Carriere closed with a plea to anyone struggling not to feel alone — urging them to accept help, try their hardest and reach out to someone.

Page Six confirmed on Monday that Mitte, 34, had died; a rep later confirmed his cause of death was suicide, while a manner of death is pending the results of an autopsy. Breaking Bad co-stars Anna Gunn, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul paid tributes.

His mother, Dyna Mitte, told NBC News she rang him at 11am, got no answer, and discovered him when she brought lunch. She said a friend had told him something that left him very hurt, and wished she had dragged him “screaming and yelling” to therapy.
