Lima's San Miguel municipality ordered the temporary closure of Arena 1 Park and cancelled Robbie Williams' second concert over evacuation and crowd-safety failures; the singer gave fans an impromptu singalong outside his hotel.

Robbie Williams’ second concert in Lima was cancelled on Thursday after the municipality of San Miguel ordered the temporary closure of Arena 1 Park over safety failures at his first show.

Inspectors reviewed Wednesday’s opening concert of the Britpop LATAM tour and found failures to implement evacuation protocols, disorder at exits, and the unauthorised blocking of pedestrian access points including the Puente Parque Belén, which officials said risked attendees’ safety. The second performance, scheduled for Thursday 24 September, was cancelled, and the municipality referred the case to the Fiscalía de Prevención del Delito and consumer authorities.

Peru’s consumer protection authority Indecopi said it was monitoring the promoter, One Entertainment, and reminded the company to inform buyers about reprogramming or ticket refunds and to meet refund timelines. The promoter has said a new date will be announced once remedial safety checks are completed.

Fans who had gathered at the venue for updates were later treated to a short improvised set by Williams outside his Miraflores hotel, after a member of his staff told the crowds to stay calm.
