Canadian rock singer Sass Jordan, the “Make You a Believer” hitmaker and a longtime judge on Canadian Idol, has died at 63, PEOPLE reported.
Her family shared on Instagram that Jordan “peacefully crossed over to the other side” on October 2, while “surrounded by her loving family”. “She remains in our hearts, an inimitable force of nature,” the family wrote. “An irreplaceable being of light and joy!”
Born in Birmingham, England, Jordan moved to Montreal at the age of three. She released her debut album, Tell Somebody, in 1988; its title track rose to number 11 in Canada and she won the Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist the following year. Her 1992 album Racine, featuring “Make You a Believer”, earned her Billboard’s Female Rock Artist of the Year title, Page Six reported.
Jordan became a household name in Canada as a judge on Canadian Idol from 2003, remaining on the panel for all six seasons. She toured alongside Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Van Halen during her four-decade career.
She had cancelled her remaining 2026 performances because of what her team described as a “serious medical condition”; her last performance was at Peterborough Musicfest in July. No cause of death has been announced. She is survived by her husband, Derek Sharp, daughter Stella Jordan-Sharp, stepdaughter Brianne Sharp and brother Daniel Jordan.
