Sophia Bush reveals secret wedding to Ashlyn Harris

Sophia Bush, 44, and former United States women’s football star Ashlyn Harris, 40, have revealed they secretly married more than a year ago, in an intimate backyard ceremony in upstate New York in summer 2025. Bush disclosed the wedding in an excerpt from her memoir, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress (out 27 October), and in a Vogue interview published on 30 September.

For the ceremony, Bush wore a black velvet dress with gold flecks found in her basement, with Harris in a tuxedo. Bush’s friend and producing partner Nia Batts got ordained online to officiate, and Harris’s children Sloane and Ocean — whom she shares with ex-wife Ali Krieger — attended, Bustle reported.

“The kids were just running and happy, and we picked flowers from the property and our daughter Sloane was holding them,” Harris told Vogue. “It was so fun for them, because it wasn’t this pressure-filled day that’s too much for young kids.”

Bush said she was tired of calling Harris “my partner”. “You’re not my partner, you know? You’re my wife,” she said. “And it feels so amazing to say that.”

After the wedding, the couple travelled to tell family and friends in person, according to the Tribune. Bush was previously married to Chad Michael Murray (2005–2006) and Grant Hughes (2022–2024, divorced August 2023), and confirmed her relationship with Harris in a 2024 Glamour essay. Harris was previously married to Krieger, and the couple were first linked in October 2023.
