Zelda Williams slams fake AI video of late father Robin Williams: 'Let him rest'
Zelda Williams has condemned a circulating AI-generated video purporting to show her late father Robin Williams discussing conspiracy theories, calling it 'clearly AI, and not even particularly convincing AI' and urging people to stop sharing it.
Zelda Williams has publicly condemned an AI-generated video of her late father Robin Williams that has been circulating online, saying fans should stop treating him “like he’s now your puppet” more than a decade after his death.
The filmmaker, 37, addressed the video in a statement posted on Instagram and X on Sept 21, saying it falsely appeared to show the actor and comedian discussing conspiracy theories, People reported.
“That supposedly ‘private video’ of dad that I’ve been shown talking about conspiracies is clearly AI, and not even particularly convincing AI,” she wrote. “Anyone who claims to be a fan who believes it clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible.”
She also took aim at whoever created it: “That said, a human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional bullshit and let him rest,” Times Now reported.
“Just because he’s gone does not mean he’s now your puppet,” she added. “Have some shame.”
It is not the first time Zelda has spoken out about AI recreations of her father, who died in 2014 aged 63. In October 2023 she called it “personally disturbing” to hear AI tools replicate his voice, and in October 2025 she asked fans to stop sending her AI-generated videos of him.
