Filtronic wins record $68.1m SpaceX order for GaN satellite amplifiers
Filtronic has secured a $68.1m (£51.3m) follow-on order from SpaceX for its Cerus E-band GaN amplifier units — the largest SpaceX contract in its history, underpinning FY2028 expectations.

Filtronic plc (AIM: FTC), the Sedgefield-based designer and manufacturer of advanced radio-frequency solutions for the space, aerospace, defence and telecoms markets, has secured a $68.1m (£51.3m) follow-on order from SpaceX for its Cerus E-band gallium nitride (“GaN”) solid state power amplifier (“SSPA”) units, the company announced on 1 October 2026 via RNS (http://www.investegate.co.uk/announcement/rns/filtronic—ftc/-68-1m-order-from-spacex/9800190).
The largest order Filtronic has received from SpaceX to date, it follows a $62.5m order announced in August 2025 for the company’s next-generation, proprietary GaN E-band technology. It is expected to be materially fulfilled during FY2028, underpinning the board’s FY2028 expectations and giving stronger revenue visibility (https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/yorkshire/news/2160946-communications-tech-business-secures-51m-follow-on-deal-with-spacex).
Filtronic said the order demonstrates continued commercial adoption of its proprietary GaN technology and strengthens its strategic partnership with SpaceX. GaN enables higher output power, improved efficiency and enhanced thermal performance compared with traditional gallium arsenide (GaAs) solutions, providing performance advantages for demanding applications including low Earth orbit satellite communications (https://www.tipranks.com/news/company-announcements/filtronic-wins-68-1m-spacex-order-bolstering-gan-leadership-and-fy2028-outlook).
CEO Nat Edington said: “This follow-on order from SpaceX, is another significant milestone for Filtronic, providing extended order visibility and coverage over the next couple of years. This order provides further evidence of the growing importance of GaN technology in high-frequency communications and reinforces Filtronic’s position at the leading edge of this transition. This order also provides significant revenue visibility into FY2028 and beyond, representing another important step for the business but also the continued development of our partnership with SpaceX.” (https://ukinvestormagazine.co.uk/filtronic-wins-record-68m-spacex-order-for-satellite-amplifiers/)
UK Investor Magazine noted the order is worth close to Filtronic’s entire annual revenue (https://ukinvestormagazine.co.uk/filtronic-wins-record-68m-spacex-order-for-satellite-amplifiers/).
