NASA will stream the return of its SpaceX Crew-12 mission this week, with the four astronauts’ Dragon capsule set to splash down off the coast of California.

NASA and SpaceX are targeting no earlier than 8:05 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, 7 October, for the undocking of the Crew-12 mission from the International Space Station, pending weather conditions, NASA said.

A 7 October undock puts NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev on schedule to splash down in the Pacific at approximately 11:34 a.m. on Thursday, 8 October.

NASA’s live coverage begins at 6 a.m. EDT on Wednesday with hatch-closure coverage, followed by the undocking itself at 8:05 a.m. After undocking coverage ends, the agency will provide audio-only communications between Crew-12, the station and flight controllers as Dragon transits away.

Return coverage resumes at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, with the deorbit burn at 10:46 a.m. and splashdown at 11:34 a.m. A briefing on the return and SpaceX’s Commercial Resupply Services-35 mission follows at 1:15 p.m.

Mission managers are monitoring conditions in the recovery area, with the undocking dependent on weather in the Pacific off California, spacecraft readiness and recovery-team readiness, NASA said. All times are Eastern and subject to change.

The return closes out Crew-12’s rotation aboard the station, with coverage streaming on NASA’s live platforms.
