Starlink halves residential prices for Cameron County, Texas residents

Starlink is offering residents of Cameron County, Texas a 50% discount on its Residential monthly subscription plans, with upfront hardware costs waived, in a community pricing move announced on 5 October.
The offer covers new and existing customers with a service address in Cameron County — home to Starbase and SpaceX’s corporate headquarters — according to BASENOR, which cites Starlink’s announcement on X as the direct source. Unusually for telecom promotions, the discount applies to existing subscribers as well as new sign-ups, with no account cancellation or re-signup required.
The discount applies to Starlink’s standard Residential monthly tiers. BASENOR notes that, on current published pricing, the cut would bring the entry tier down to around $27.50 a month, though the company has not published Cameron County-specific prices.
Starlink’s announcement framed the move around its local roots: “Starbase, Texas is home to SpaceX’s headquarters, and the Rio Grande Valley is where thousands of our team members and their families live.”
The offer follows a pattern. BASENOR reports SpaceX extended a similar 50%-off-plus-free-hardware deal to Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, where a new Starbase facility is being established, and to residents near its Memphis, Tennessee data centre operations and Southaven, Mississippi, where roughly 2,000 residents had enrolled by early September 2026.
