Alexia Putellas wins third women's Ballon d'Or

Spain star Alexia Putellas has won the women's Ballon d'Or for a third time at the 2026 ceremony at the London Palladium, after previous wins in 2021 and 2022.

Spain star Alexia Putellas has won the women’s Ballon d’Or for a third time at the 2026 ceremony at the London Palladium.

Putellas, who previously won the award in 2021 and 2022, was announced as the winner on Monday night in London. USA Today reported the result in its live coverage of the ceremony, describing her as the Spain and Barcelona star now with London City Lionesses.

Flashscore’s live coverage also recorded the win, noting it was her third triumph after a season in which Barcelona won it all, and that she thanked her former team-mates. Flashscore reported that she had captained the Barcelona side.

Ewa Pajor finished second and Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw finished third, according to Flashscore’s live results.

The ceremony was the 70th edition of the Ballon d’Or and the first to be staged in London rather than Paris, at the London Palladium.

This report covers the women’s Ballon d’Or result only; it makes no claim about the winner of the men’s Ballon d’Or award, which was the ceremony’s final award.
