Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez win the 2026 Kopa Trophy

Barcelona pair Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez have won the men’s and women’s Kopa Trophy awards at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.

The Kopa Trophy recognises the best young player under the age of 21, and both winners play for Barcelona and Spain. Yamal collected the men’s award for a third consecutive year (2024, 2025, 2026); Lopez retained the women’s award for a second straight year, having first won it in 2025.

The official Ballon d’Or account announced both results, naming Yamal the 2026 men’s young talent of the year and Lopez the women’s young talent of the year, as reported by NDTV and TNT Sports.

Yamal, 19, praised a fellow nominee in his speech. “I would have liked to see my team-mate Cubarsi here because I think this prize should have been for him. He has been playing at an excellent level for some time,” he said, referring to Barcelona and Spain team-mate Pau Cubarsi. “This is my third year up here for this prize. I would like to thank my club and my national team.”

Lopez was announced as the women’s winner shortly after Yamal, with TNT Sports reporting that the award was presented by England defender Lucy Bronze.

This report covers the Kopa Trophy results only; it makes no claim about the winner of the main Ballon d’Or award.
