Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin was carted off the field with a left knee injury in the first quarter of Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers and ruled out for the rest of the night, USA Today reported.

McLaurin crumpled while running a route on third-and-nine late in the opening quarter, his left leg buckling as he cut near the Washington sideline with cornerback Deommodore Lenoir in coverage, according to Commanders Wire. The injury appeared to be non-contact; quarterback Jayden Daniels was sacked on the same play, Fox Sports reported.

McLaurin clutched at his left knee and stayed down for several minutes. Washington’s medical staff fitted an air cast to his leg before he was driven off, with teammates from both teams surrounding him and several 49ers veterans coming over to offer encouragement. The Commanders announced he was ruled out early in the second quarter; the team has given no further detail on the injury.

McLaurin caught a 27-yard pass on the game’s first play but exited with one target. He entered the evening with 14 receptions for a team-high 203 yards and one touchdown in four games this season. A 2019 third-round pick, McLaurin has been the club’s leading receiver, hauling in 512 receptions for 7,164 yards, per Fox Sports.

Stefon Diggs took a separate blow to the hand during the game but returned after treatment, NBC Sports reported. San Francisco led 13-3 at the end of the first quarter.
