Seventh arrest in RAF Fairford terror probe as police quiz 22-year-old in Westminster
Counter Terrorism Policing has arrested a 22-year-old British man in Westminster on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts in the investigation into a suspected plot near RAF Fairford; he remains in custody.
British police have made a seventh arrest in the investigation into a suspected terrorist plot near RAF Fairford, detaining a 22-year-old British man in Westminster on Tuesday on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts.
Counter Terrorism Policing said the man was arrested in Westminster and officers had searched a property in the same area. He remains in custody. It is the seventh arrest linked to the probe into suspected offences near the Gloucestershire airbase, the airfield the United States used for strikes on Iran.
“This remains a live investigation, and our specialist teams continue to pursue multiple lines of inquiry into the circumstances surrounding events near RAF Fairford,” Vicki Evans, the senior national coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, said on Tuesday.
Six other men in their 20s previously arrested in connection with the investigation, including a dual British-Iranian national arrested on October 1, remain on police bail.
The arrest follows the withdrawal of all American B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford. US President Donald Trump said a threat linked to Iran had prompted the removal of the aircraft; Iran has denied any involvement in any alleged plot.
