Three earthquakes measuring 4.9, 5.0 and 3.8 struck the Myanmar-Bangladesh border, Mizoram and Tripura within 75 minutes early Sunday, the EMSC said, sending tremors across Bangladesh including Dhaka.

Three earthquakes struck Myanmar and India’s northeastern states of Mizoram and Tripura within 75 minutes early on Sunday, sending tremors across several parts of Bangladesh, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The first quake, measuring 4.9, struck the Myanmar-Bangladesh border area at 12:12am local time, the EMSC said, with tremors felt near the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf border and in Chattogram. Just one minute later, at 12:13am, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the Lunglei area of Mizoram along the Bangladesh-India border, felt in Chattogram, Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali and other parts of Bangladesh.

At 1:27am, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck near Agartala in Tripura, causing mild tremors in Dhaka and several other parts of the country. The three quakes spanned 12:12am to 1:27am, a total of 75 minutes (Bangladesh Pratidin).

There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage from the tremors. The Daily Sun, citing the same EMSC readings, reported identical times, magnitudes and affected areas (Daily Sun).
