Anti-CEC protests enter third day in Delhi as AISA marchers clash with police at Jantar Mantar
Student activists marched on Jantar Mantar for a third consecutive day on Sunday demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, clashing briefly with police at the barricades, as the Congress accused police of sexually harassing women journalists at Saturday's protest.

All India Students’ Association activists marched toward Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for a third consecutive day on Sunday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the controversial Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, The Hindu reports.
The mobilisation began at Andhra Bhawan Circle on Ashoka Road, with protesters chanting slogans as they tried to reach the protest site through heavy police barricading. Protesters and security personnel clashed briefly at the barricades; visuals showed AISA national president Neha Bora attempting to climb over a barricade as officers stopped her, PTI reported.
About 150 protesters, including Bora, activist Yogendra Yadav and advocate Prashant Bhushan, were detained on Saturday while marching from Patel Chowk, and the National Students’ Union of India protested at India Gate the same day.
The Congress on Sunday accused Delhi Police personnel of sexually harassing three women journalists during Saturday’s protest, with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra asking why no FIR had been registered; police said they were reviewing CCTV footage. P. Chidambaram said the “wisest thing” Kumar could do is resign, while INDIA bloc parties announced a ‘Save Democracy’ rally in Jammu on Oct 7.
The Delhi protests coincided with a joint ‘Virat Garjana Morcha’ in Mumbai, where Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray led a march demanding the SIR be scrapped in Maharashtra and a return to ballot papers, PTI reported.
