Suspected Iranian drone hits KDPI camp in Koya in second attack in a week
A suspected Iranian drone struck the KDPI's Azadi Camp near Koya on Wednesday night, the party's second such attack in a week, with no casualties reported.

ERBIL — A suspected Iranian drone struck the Azadi Camp of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in Erbil province’s Koya district on Wednesday night — a second attack on the camp in a week, Rudaw reported.
The Kurdistan Region Security Agency (Asayish) said the camp was hit by a single drone at 8:22pm, adding that “the attack resulted in no casualties.” Two locals told Rudaw English they heard a “loud explosion.”
The KDPI said on X: “The Azadi Camp of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan was targeted by an Islamic Republic drone,” describing the camp near Koya as a residential area for KDPI members’ families. The party called the strike the IRGC’s “second wave of drone attacks against KDPI camps this week.”
The attack follows Monday’s strike on the same camp, when three drones hit between 1:40 and 2:10am without injuring anyone, according to Shafaq News. A senior KDPI official told Rudaw the Monday attack used three Hadid-110 drones, attributing it to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The IRGC and affiliated Iraqi militias have fired more than 1,000 missiles and drones at the Kurdistan Region since 28 February, when the US-Israeli campaign against Iran began, Rudaw’s tracking shows. The KDPI says its bases and headquarters “have been targeted by more than 164 missiles and drones” since the conflict began.
The strike landed on the day the US-led coalition’s military mission in Iraq formally ended, leaving open who will defend the Kurdistan Region’s airspace, Shafaq News reported.
