Iran executed two men arrested over the January 2026 protests, the country’s judiciary’s Mizan news agency reported on Monday, October 5.

Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raeisi were executed on Monday morning in Isfahan, Mizan reported. The agency said the two had been arrested over the January 2026 protests and sentenced to death on charges including “membership in an armed rebel group, waging war against God through carrying weapons and creating fear and insecurity, corruption on earth and incitement to war and killing.”

The executions were, according to Mizan, connected to the deaths of four police officers. The agency said Iran’s Supreme Court had upheld their sentences.

The charges and circumstances are reported as the Iranian judiciary’s account; independent verification of the case details is not available. The executions are the latest this year tied to protest unrest in Iran.
