Four police personnel injured in attack on Shadipur checkpost in Kohat

Four police personnel were injured on Wednesday when unidentified armed attackers struck the Shadipur police post in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the latest militant attack on Pakistani police.

Kohat District Police Officer Rai Mazhar Iqbal said officers put up a strong response after the attackers opened fire on the post, according to the Minute Mirror. The four injured officers were shifted to hospital, where officials said their condition was stable and they were out of danger.

Aaj English TV separately reported that a police checkpoint in Kohat came under attack by unidentified armed people, with the injured moved to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Police launched a search operation in the area to track down the attackers, and security was tightened across Kohat following the incident.

Separately on Wednesday, security sources said security forces killed 18 militants in two intelligence-based operations: 13 in North Waziristan and five in the Siah Pash and Killi Gashtari areas of Mastung district, Balochistan, with weapons and ammunition recovered, per Aaj English TV.

The attack comes amid a sustained wave of militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in recent months.
