Israeli envoy's son critically injured in West Bank car-ramming

Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, has said his son, an IDF reserve soldier, was critically injured in a car-ramming attack at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.
Leiter wrote in a social media post that medics were “fighting to save the life of Neria Dov ben Chana”, adding: “Neria needs a miracle.” Al Jazeera
Israeli police said a vehicle drove towards forces stationed at an intersection near the settlement of Beit Horon, west of Ramallah. “The soldier was wounded and is currently receiving medical treatment. The attacker was killed by the forces,” police said. Magen David Adom evacuated the soldier to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where he was reported to be in serious condition. The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the driver as Mahmoud Muhammad Mahmoud Suleiman, 29, from the nearby village of Beit Ur al-Tahta, who was shot dead at the scene.
The attack came a day before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled UN address. Leiter’s elder son, Moshe Yedidya, 39, was killed fighting in Gaza in November 2023. CNN
