India says 12 crew injured after Panama-flagged tanker MT On Peace hit by projectile in Strait of Hormuz
India's foreign ministry says 12 crew were injured when the Panama-flagged commercial vessel MT On Peace was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz; the injured are receiving treatment in Oman.
India says 12 crew members on a Panama-flagged tanker were injured in an attack while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, with those hurt receiving medical treatment in Oman.
“We condemn the attack earlier today on a Panama-flagged commercial vessel MT On Peace… it was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” New Delhi’s foreign ministry said in a statement, according to Agence France-Presse.
The statement did not identify who was behind the strike. The incident was reported in Dawn’s live coverage of the Iran-Israel war on Tuesday, 6 October 2026.
The Strait of Hormuz, which carried about 20 per cent of global oil supplies before the war, has seen repeated attacks on commercial shipping during the seven-month US-Iran conflict. The United States Energy Information Administration said on Tuesday it had raised its oil price forecast for this year and next as global stockpiles fall and diesel markets remain tight due to the ongoing war.
Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s civilian aviation authority said at least three people were wounded in attacks on the Jazan and Najran airports near the Yemen border, amid intensifying fighting between Saudi-led forces and the Houthis.
