Netanyahu vows 'no Hamas rule' in Gaza at October 7 state ceremony
Benjamin Netanyahu vowed at Monday's state memorial ceremony for the October 7 massacre that Hamas would not govern Gaza, saying anyone involved in the attack was 'living on borrowed time'.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Monday that Hamas would not govern the Gaza Strip, speaking at the state memorial ceremony marking the October 7 massacre.
“There will be no Hamas rule in Gaza. Anyone who was involved in the attack against us and held our hostages is living on borrowed time. Every day, we settle accounts with these despicable murderers,” Netanyahu said (The Jerusalem Post).
President Isaac Herzog, addressing bereaved families at the same ceremony, warned that Israel could not ignore internal or external signs of trouble. He recounted the female observers stationed at the Nahal Oz base — “the eyes of the IDF, and of the state” on Gaza’s border — who sensed something was happening before the attack. “They saw. They reported. They raised the alarm. But no one assembled it into a complete picture,” he said (The Jerusalem Post).
The ceremony marks three years since the October 7, 2023 attack (i24NEWS). Netanyahu’s remarks on Monday restate Israel’s war aims as the US-Iran war and regional fighting grind on.
