'Nothing is justifying this': Qatari PM slams Gaza 'atrocities' in Piers Morgan interview

Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, told Piers Morgan Uncensored on Tuesday that whoever is responsible for the situation in Gaza is a “war criminal”.

He called the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel “a massacre, and should be condemned”, saying those responsible “should be held accountable” — but rejected the response: “Hospitals have been targeted, schools have been targeted. Whatever the justifications and the arguments, nothing is justifying this.”

Of the October 2025 Gaza ceasefire, he said “more than 1,400 Gazans have been killed”, “almost 70 percent of the Strip has been occupied”, with access “not allowed by the Israeli forces”, and that “they are not fulfilling their commitments of this agreement” — “this is just showing that they have different intentions.” He said Qatar’s mediation was repeatedly “undermined [by Israel] from day one of the war”, and condemned Israel’s 2025 Doha strike targeting Hamas officials gathered for negotiations: “We were attacked by Israel while we were mediating … It’s setting a precedent of attacking the mediator that has never happened throughout the wars in history.”

On the US-Israel war on Iran, he named three requirements to end it: agreement on Tehran’s right to “peaceful nuclear power” with sanctions removed; freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz under international law; and reformed regional security arrangements including the GCC and Iran, built on dialogue, non-interference, non-aggression. He said Qatar is advising both Washington and Tehran, adding behind-closed-doors diplomacy works best.
