Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 180 drones, Ukraine’s Air Force said on 18 October, in a large-scale barrage spanning the night of 17–18 October.

The missile was launched from Russia’s Voronezh Oblast, while the drones — including 26 jet-powered Shahed-type drones — were launched from Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, occupied Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in Crimea, according to the New Voice of Ukraine.

By 8am, air defences had shot down or suppressed 152 drones, including 16 jet-powered Shaheds, Gerbera-type drones and others. Strikes hit 20 locations; debris from intercepted drones fell at four locations, and about 10 enemy drones were still in Ukrainian airspace at the time of the report.

In Vinnytsia Oblast, critical infrastructure was damaged and emergency power outages were imposed across the region. The attack began on the evening of 17 October with jet-powered Shahed drones and guided aerial bombs, and a ballistic missile reportedly struck Kharkiv, causing injuries.

A Russian strike on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia killed a 27-year-old woman. In Poltava, a drone struck an area of private residential homes, killing one person, injuring two and damaging four houses.

The barrage was also reported by RBC-Ukraine, Ukrainska Pravda and Ukrinform.
