The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said early on Tuesday that its forces had destroyed a weapons depot containing 20 ballistic missiles in northwestern Yemen’s Saada province, along with a ballistic missile launch site in the capital, Sanaa.

Coalition spokesman Maj Gen Turki al-Malki announced the strikes in remarks carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), saying the Saada depot was located at a mountainous site.

The announcement follows a military operation on Monday against Houthi targets in the western province of Hodeidah, in which the coalition said it destroyed weapons depots, storage facilities for explosive-laden boats and naval mines, and thwarted preparations for imminent attacks on shipping in the southern Red Sea.

The strikes are part of the “Dawn of Yemen” operation, which the coalition launched alongside a Yemeni government ground offensive. On Monday the coalition said it had destroyed 324 high-value targets and was providing air protection for the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Meanwhile, the Houthis claimed on Monday evening that they had carried out strikes targeting two Saudi airports, an oil facility and military sites across Saudi Arabia. The claims have not been independently verified, nor have the coalition’s battlefield assertions.
