Three traffic police killed in gun attack in Tank, Pakistan
Gunmen killed three traffic police personnel and wounded three others in an attack on a police vehicle in Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At least three traffic police personnel were killed when armed men opened fire on their mobile vehicle in Wazirabad Bazaar, Tank district, on Monday, District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan said. Geo News
The dead were identified by Nukta as constables Gul Amin, Saleem Shah and Idress. Geo News reported that Assistant Sub-Inspector Ismatullah was wounded and shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, and that two passers-by were also wounded in the attack. The attackers fled after taking the traffic police mobile vehicle, which was later recovered from Gara Budha, the DPO said. Police have cordoned off highways and pedestrian routes in the area while a search operation is under way to arrest the suspects.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, offered condolences to the families of the dead and said the nation saluted their sacrifice. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also condemned the killings, sought a report from senior officials and directed authorities to ensure the injured received medical treatment.
The attack came two days after at least 13 people, including police and excise personnel, were killed and 33 others wounded in a suicide attack on the Aman Mela police checkpoint in the Darazinda area of neighbouring Dera Ismail Khan district.
