Thailand’s Interior Ministry said on Monday that the death toll from floods in the country since 16 September has risen to 31, Reuters reported (https://www.reuters.com/business/environment/death-toll-thailand-floods-rises-31-interior-ministry-says-2026-10-05/).
The figure, up from 23 reported last week, was confirmed by AsiaOne on Monday morning Singapore time (https://www.asiaone.com/asia/death-toll-thailand-floods-rises-31-interior-ministry-says).
The rising toll comes amid continued severe flooding across the country. Earlier reporting put the death toll at 23 after waters receded from Bangkok, where the main airport operated in chaos and the government approved a multi-billion-baht flood aid package (Reuters, 29 September). Bangkok was swamped by around 320mm of rain within three days last week — nearly as much as the city usually gets in the whole of September.
