Ukraine calls India's ceasefire proposal its 'most comprehensive' and says it is ready to consider it
Ukraine's foreign minister says India has put forward its first comprehensive peace proposal since the war began, covering energy and Black Sea truces, which Kyiv is prepared to consider in combination.

KYIV — Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Friday that India has put forward a “comprehensive” proposal to end the war with Russia, the first such proposal from New Delhi since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, and that Kyiv is ready to consider it.
“We have four proposals. The most comprehensive is India’s proposal. For the first time, India has signalled its willingness to play a role,” Sybiha told reporters in Kyiv.
He said Ukraine is prepared to agree to an energy and agricultural truce in the Black Sea and is considering an unconditional ceasefire along the line of contact. Any ceasefire must cover not only combat operations but also attacks on energy and port infrastructure and the situation in the Black Sea. “We are ready for an energy and Black Sea ceasefire, but only in this combination,” he added.
Besides India, Ukraine has received proposals from Turkey, Egypt and the United States. Turkey and Egypt have called for a Black Sea ceasefire to allow Ukrainian grain exports to resume, while Washington has urged both sides to halt strikes on energy infrastructure.
The disclosure came after Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Valdai Discussion Club that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “constantly raises the question about putting an end to the conflict” and has “very good ideas” for mutually acceptable solutions. On August 31, Modi had urged Putin at the SCO summit in Bishkek to move from “endless war” to “end of war”.
