Gor hosts US ambassadors' regional conference in New Delhi as Rubio joins virtually
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor hosted the Ambassadors Regional Conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, bringing together US envoys from 11 South and Central Asian nations; Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined virtually.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor hosted the US Ambassadors Regional Conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, convening American envoys and Chiefs of Mission from 11 South and Central Asian nations to review regional priorities.
Welcoming his counterparts to the meeting, Gor posted on X: “Great to have all our SCA Ambassadors in India!”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined the conference virtually, writing on X: “Earlier today, I called into our Ambassadors Regional Conference in India, hosted by Ambassador Sergio Gor.” He said it was great to speak with US Ambassadors and Chiefs of Mission from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, adding: “Our Ambassadors are proudly making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.”
The conference brought together mission heads from across the State Department’s South and Central Asian Affairs bureau to coordinate strategic, economic and security priorities.
Rubio is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan in mid-October with a business delegation of more than 100 American companies, and will take part in the C5+1 Ministerial in Samarkand alongside the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
A day earlier, Gor visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum; he has also recently travelled to Srinagar and Leh, and witnessed Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026 at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan.
