US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will meet Ukrainian representatives on Friday in Miami to discuss new ideas and proposals for addressing the war in Ukraine, an American source familiar with the plan told Reuters on Thursday.

The meeting will be a working session on “new ideas and proposals that American negotiators began developing with the Russians and Ukrainians during their recent visit to the region”, the source said. Representatives of the White House National Security Council and the US Treasury Department will attend with national security advisers from the United Kingdom, France and Germany invited, alongside NATO and EU officials.

Expected topics include proposals for security guarantees for Ukraine, a post-war prosperity plan, and other aspects of the conflict.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Thursday that Ukraine’s negotiating team would meet Kushner and Witkoff in the United States for a two-day session on Friday and Saturday. The delegation will be led by his chief of staff, Kyrylo Budanov, alongside Rustem Umerov, Sergiy Kyslytsya and David Arakhamia, with a European team hoped to join.

Zelenskyy said the team is expected back in Kyiv on Monday morning, and that Kyiv hopes the meetings bring financial assistance for Ukraine closer and strengthen its air defences.

The talks come as Washington seeks to revive its stalled peace push. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the conflict a “dangerous stalemate” on Thursday, and President Donald Trump said this week he planned to call Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
