Braves beat Phillies 6-2 in Game 3 to reach NLDS against Dodgers

Three home runs and a composed opener from Ray Kerr carried the Atlanta Braves to a 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Thursday's decisive Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series, setting up a Division Series against the Dodgers.

The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 on Thursday night in the decisive Game 3 of their National League Wild Card Series at Truist Park, powered by three home runs and a composed opening act from postseason debutant Ray Kerr.

Michael Harris II lined a three-run homer over the right-field fence off Aaron Nola in the first inning, after walks to Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson, staking Atlanta to a 3-0 lead. Nola was pulled after recording five outs, having allowed three runs.

Kerr, the 32-year-old left-hander recalled by Atlanta on 16 August after missing the 2025 season following Tommy John surgery in 2024, threw 3⅓ scoreless innings — allowing one hit and one walk, both to Kyle Schwarber — and left to a standing ovation from a sell-out crowd of 41,731.

Ozzie Albies made it 5-0 with a 419-foot two-run shot off Zack Wheeler in the fourth, and Olson added a solo homer in the seventh. Grant Holmes earned the win with two innings of one-run relief, while Chris Sale — Tuesday’s Game 1 starter — struck out Bryce Harper to end the eighth and closed out the ninth.

It is Atlanta’s first postseason series win since the 2021 World Series and their first playoff series win against the Phillies, who had beaten them in the 1993 NLCS and the 2022 and 2023 NLDS. The Braves now travel to Los Angeles for a best-of-five NL Division Series against the Dodgers starting Saturday.
