Brydon Carse charged by Cricket Regulator over Derby nightclub arrest
England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been charged by the Cricket Regulator with breaching ECB conduct rules over his August nightclub arrest in Derby.
England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been charged by the Cricket Regulator after an incident at a nightclub in Derby in August.
The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and then de-arrested outside a nightclub in Derby after Durham’s 338-run victory over Derbyshire on Saturday, August 22. Images of Carse in handcuffs circulated two days later, with his Durham team-mates, including Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts, visible in the background.
In a statement on Friday, the regulator confirmed Carse had been charged with breaching regulation 3.2 of the ECB’s professional conduct regulations, essentially bringing the game into disrepute. He will appear before a Cricket Discipline Panel hearing within the next few weeks; if found guilty, punishments range from a reprimand to a lengthy ban.
Derbyshire Police had investigated an alleged assault in relation to the arrest, but confirmed on September 18 that its investigation would be dropped with no further action. Carse was subsequently dropped from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s and has not been selected for England since.
