Chiefs edge Raiders 30-27 as Kenneth Walker's two fourth-quarter TDs settle battle of unbeatens
Kenneth Walker ran for 177 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 at Allegiant Stadium, staying perfect at 4-0 in the battle of the AFC West's last unbeatens.
The Kansas City Chiefs stayed perfect at 4-0 with a 30-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, surviving the battle of the AFC West’s last unbeaten teams thanks to two fourth-quarter touchdowns from Kenneth Walker III.
The teams were level 7-7 after the first quarter and the Raiders led 13-10 at half-time before a scoreless third quarter, Sportradar’s game summary shows. Walker then took over: after a 55-yard catch by Tyquan Thornton set up his five-yard touchdown run, Raiders return man Dareke Young fumbled the ensuing kickoff at the 22-yard line — and Walker scored again on the very next play to make it 30-19 with just over three minutes left, Raiders Wire reported.
Las Vegas refused to fold. Kirk Cousins found Cody White for a touchdown and the two-point conversion cut the lead to 30-27 with under two minutes to play. The Raiders forced a three-and-out and the punt was downed at their own one-yard line with 1:15 left, but they could not get into scoring range — Chiefs defensive back Xavier Nwankpa intercepted Cousins late in the fourth to seal it, per Chiefs Wire’s live blog.
Walker finished with 177 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. The Raiders drop to 3-1.
