David Silva comes out of retirement to join Hong Kong club Supreme Sha Tin
Former Manchester City and Spain midfielder David Silva, 40, has come out of retirement after three years to join Supreme Sha Tin of the Hong Kong Premier League.

Former Manchester City and Spain midfielder David Silva has come out of retirement after three years to join Supreme Sha Tin, the Hong Kong club announced on Wednesday (Associated Press).
The 40-year-old, a member of Spain’s 2010 World Cup-winning squad, ended his career in the summer of 2023 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in preseason training with Real Sociedad (AP; Reuters, July 2023).
“I am delighted to join Supreme Sha Tin,” said Silva, who made 125 appearances for Spain, in a video posted on the club’s social-media channels. “I’m really looking forward to going to Hong Kong to enjoy the culture, the people, and the food in Sha Tin — and the football in Hong Kong, of course” (AP).
The club said: “David Silva will be in Hong Kong soon to settle in, link up with squad training, and build up to peak match fitness before making his pitch debut.” Supreme Sha Tin were promoted to the Hong Kong Premier League last season and currently sit eighth in the 11-team competition.
Silva joined Manchester City in 2010 and spent 10 seasons there, making 309 Premier League appearances and winning 11 major honours (AP; AFP). With Spain he also won the European Championship in 2008 and 2012 (Reuters).
