De'Von Achane ruled out with knee injury as Chiefs beat Dolphins 24-10
Miami Dolphins star running back De'Von Achane was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a knee injury, with head coach Jeff Hafley admitting 'it does not sound optimistic' about a quick return. The Chiefs won 24-10.
Miami Dolphins star running back De’Von Achane has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a knee injury, a major blow for an offence already without Jaylen Wright.
Achane was hurt in the first quarter at Hard Rock Stadium, limping off with trainers after an 11-yard run on which he juked and was then taken to the ground hard by Chiefs defender Alohi Gilman. He was initially ruled questionable to return, entered the medical tent, then walked to the locker room with medical staff and did not come back.
The Dolphins confirmed he would not return, and he spent the second half on the sideline without his pads on. After the game, head coach Jeff Hafley admitted the prognosis was poor. “To be honest with you, it does not sound optimistic,” Hafley said, with reports suggesting fears of a major knee injury.
Before exiting, Achane carried three times for 17 yards. Second-year back Ollie Gordon II took over but later suffered cramps, leaving Miami with no healthy running backs on the active roster.
The Chiefs won 24-10 to move to 3-0. Kenneth Walker III scored rushing and receiving touchdowns, Patrick Mahomes threw for 246 yards and two scores with one interception, and a late touchdown pass to Travis Kelce sealed the win. The Dolphins fell to 0-3 despite outgaining Kansas City in time of possession.
