Fury v Joshua confirmed for Cardiff on 11 December, live on Netflix

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet on Friday 11 December at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, streaming live globally on Netflix, with the promoters already in dispute over Dana White's role.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring on Friday 11 December at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in a heavyweight showdown announced as streaming live globally on Netflix (The Source).

The event will stream to Netflix’s more than 325 million members at no additional cost, according to the official announcement (The Source; Bloody Elbow). The announcement states that Turki Alalshikh’s The Ring and Dana White will collaborate to promote the event, and carries a quote from White: “For more than a decade, boxing fans have been clamoring for the heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.” (The Source).

Fury (36-2-1, 25 knockouts) and Joshua (30-4, 27 knockouts) meet for the first time as professionals; both are former world champions rather than current belt-holders (MMA Junkie).

White’s role is already disputed. Eddie Hearn told iFL TV that the release “ain’t happening”, adding that Joshua’s contract bars White, TKO and Zuffa from any promotional involvement — while White told iFL TV “It’ll be me” when asked who is promoting the fight (MMA News; Boxing Wire). No clarification from The Ring or Sela had been made public at the time of reporting.

A joint press conference is scheduled for Wednesday 30 September at the British Airways Arc in London (The Source).
