Giants release Odell Beckham Jr., ending brief second stint with New York

The New York Giants are releasing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after three games, zero catches and 20 offensive snaps, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday — ending his brief 2026 reunion with the franchise.

The New York Giants are releasing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after three games and zero catches, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday, bringing a quiet second chapter with the franchise to an end.

Beckham, 33, played only 20 snaps on offence and received just one target, which came during Sunday’s 12-7 victory against the Tennessee Titans in East Rutherford, New Jersey. After missing the entire 2025 season, he signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Giants in June and made the initial 53-man roster out of training camp, but was unable to make an impact in his second tenure.

The Giants selected Beckham with the 12th overall pick out of LSU in 2014. He was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014, made three straight Pro Bowls, and totalled 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns over five seasons in New York before being traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 campaign. He later played for the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, winning Super Bowl LVI with the Rams.

The Giants need the roster spot for receiver and returner Braxton Berrios. The move comes a day after New York traded for quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings following the season-ending knee injury to starter Jaxson Dart.
