HOUSTON — Conner Weigman threw for 343 yards and five touchdowns on Saturday night as Houston held off Oklahoma State 35-32 in a Big 12 shootout at TDECU Stadium, snapping the Cowboys’ four-game winning streak.

Weigman, completing 24 of 33 passes with one interception, also rushed for 52 yards and sealed the win with a rushing first down on the Cougars’ final possession. Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker answered nearly everything, throwing for 365 yards and three touchdowns, but lost a fumble and threw an interception in the defeat.

Houston led 14-3 at half-time and three of the Cougars’ five touchdowns came on third-down plays, with a fourth on fourth down — converting 7 of 13 third downs overall. Oklahoma State, held to a field goal and a turnover on downs inside the Houston 10 in the first half, scored on four of five second-half possessions to keep it close, including a 48-yard strike from Weigman to Koby Young with 9:48 left that made it 35-25.

Wide receiver Amare Thomas caught seven passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns for Houston. The Cougars improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Big 12, keeping their conference-title hopes alive; Oklahoma State dropped to 4-2 and 2-1. Houston travels to Utah next week, while the Cowboys host Colorado.
