Luke Humphries beats Gerwyn Price 6-4 to regain World Grand Prix darts title
Humphries came from 3-0 down to beat Price 6-4 in the World Grand Prix final at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester on Sunday, regaining the title he first won in 2023 and banking the £150,000 winner's prize.
Luke Humphries produced a stunning comeback to beat Gerwyn Price 6-4 and regain the World Grand Prix darts title in Leicester on Sunday.
Humphries, 31, trailed 3-0 and stood on the verge of falling 4-0 behind before reeling off six of the final seven sets at the Mattioli Arena. The victory restores the title he first won in 2023 and earns him the £150,000 winner’s prize.
Price, 41, had been magnificent in the early going, sweeping the opening three sets with a three-dart average of 132.62 in the first set — legs of 12, 10 and 12 darts — while Humphries could manage only 72.18 in response. But the Welshman could not close out the match, and his wait for a televised major title now stretches beyond three years.
It was Humphries’ fourth consecutive appearance in the World Grand Prix final, and he walked off for the first television break with a wry smile after Price’s blistering start — before turning the match on its head in one of the best fightbacks of his career.
