Ivan Toney arrives at Westminster court over Soho nightclub assault charge

England striker Ivan Toney arrived at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today to face a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, The Sun reported (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/40478488/england-star-ivan-toney-court-assault-brawl-nightclub/).

The 30-year-old Al-Ahli striker was charged on 31 July following a Metropolitan Police investigation into an alleged incident at a nightclub on Wardour Street, Soho, on 6 December 2025, according to the Met’s statement (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/40478488/england-star-ivan-toney-court-assault-brawl-nightclub/). PA reports that the complainant is named as Saber Da Silva, and that the hearing — originally listed for 24 September — was put back a week after a delay request was received on Wednesday night (https://www.hellorayo.co.uk/hits-radio/uk/news/ivan-toney-court-hearing-over-soho-assault-charge-delayed).

The Sun alleges the charge follows an alleged headbutt during a brawl inside the club, with witnesses claiming trouble erupted after a fan grabbed Toney for a selfie (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/40478488/england-star-ivan-toney-court-assault-brawl-nightclub/).

A spokesperson for Toney said: “Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court”, and indicated he intends to contest the charge (https://www.hellorayo.co.uk/hits-radio/uk/news/ivan-toney-court-hearing-over-soho-assault-charge-delayed). No plea has been reported.

Toney joined Al-Ahli from Brentford in a reported £40 million move in August 2024 and scored 42 goals in 49 appearances last season (https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/ivan-toney-charged-assault-nightclub-soho-london-9tg5f7lsm). He was part of Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad and has 10 England caps and one goal (https://www.hellorayo.co.uk/hits-radio/uk/news/ivan-toney-court-hearing-over-soho-assault-charge-delayed). He served an eight-month FA ban for betting-rule breaches in 2023 (https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/ivan-toney-charged-assault-nightclub-soho-london-9tg5f7lsm).
