Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin will miss several weeks after injuring his throwing arm during the Buckeyes’ 19-15 win over No. 4 Indiana at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington on Saturday.

Head coach Ryan Day revealed the timeline in his postgame press conference. “I don’t have a ton of details, but he will probably be out for several weeks so we’ll have to come up with a plan,” Day said (https://www.reuters.com/sports/ohio-state-qb-julian-sayin-injured-out-several-weeks—flm-2026-10-17/).

Sayin, a 2025 Heisman finalist, was hurt with about eight minutes left in the fourth quarter when Indiana defensive tackle Mario Landino sacked him, slamming his right arm between the elbow and shoulder on a strip-sack. The ball was fumbled but recovered by a teammate. Sayin walked to the locker room with his arm limp and returned to the sideline wearing a sling with 3:35 left (https://nypost.com/2026/10/17/sports/julian-sayin-to-miss-multiple-weeks-after-suffering-injury-in-ohio-state-crusher/).

He finished 15 of 29 for 235 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, including a 38-yard fourth-down touchdown pass to Jeremiah Smith early in the fourth quarter that proved decisive. True freshman Luke Fahey, who went 0 for 2 in relief, will lead the offence moving forward (https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/college/football/2026/10/17/ohio-state-responds-to-luke-fahey-replacing-julian-sayin-after-indiana-injury/92231885007/).

Sayin has thrown for 2,007 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Ohio State, now 6-1, has a bye before visiting No. 19 USC on 31 October.
