World No 1 Luke Littler lost 10-4 to Jonny Clayton in the World Series of Darts Finals quarter-finals in Amsterdam, ending his bid to win all 10 PDC majors in 2026.
Luke Littler’s bid to win every PDC major in 2026 is over after a crushing 10-4 defeat to Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.
The 19-year-old world No 1 had won the first six premier events of the season — the World Championship at Alexandra Palace in January, the World Masters, UK Open, Premier League, World Cup of Darts alongside Luke Humphries, and the World Matchplay — and was chasing a historic clean sweep of all 10 majors, Sky Sports reported.
Clayton, 51, produced an inspired display. After Littler edged into the last eight with a narrow 10-9 win over Nathan Aspinall on Saturday night, the Welshman levelled at 3-3 with a 136 checkout and never looked back, the PA News Agency reported.
“You have to take your chances and I did that today somehow,” Clayton said. “That’s not the Luke Littler that we all know.”
It was Littler’s first defeat in a major for 335 days, since losing to James Wade at the European Championship last October, The Sun reported.
Clayton will face fellow Welshman Gerwyn Price in Sunday’s second semi-final, after England’s Ross Smith meets home favourite Gian van Veen in the first semi-final, with the final to follow on Sunday evening.
