Ogunbowale scores WNBA playoff-record 45 as Wings force Game 3
Arike Ogunbowale scored a WNBA playoff-record 45 points as the Dallas Wings beat the Golden State Valkyries 108-100 in overtime to force a decisive Game 3.
Arike Ogunbowale scored a WNBA playoff-record 45 points on Wednesday night to carry the seventh-seeded Dallas Wings to a 108–100 overtime win over the second-seeded Golden State Valkyries in Arlington, Texas, forcing a winner-take-all Game 3.
Ogunbowale’s 45 broke the previous single-game postseason record of 42, held jointly by Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier and Angel McCoughtry. She hit an off-balance three-pointer with 4.1 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 93–93, then scored 11 of her team’s points in overtime.
The four-time All-Star shot 12-of-23 from the floor, 5-of-8 from three-point range and 16-of-18 from the free-throw line, adding seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. It was a marked turnaround from Game 1, when she managed just 10 points on seven shots.
Alysha Clark added 21 points off the bench to tie her playoff career high, while Aziaha James scored 13. For Golden State, Gabby Williams poured in a career-high 36 points but went scoreless over the final 2:26 of overtime. Dallas snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Valkyries.
The decisive Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Chase Center in San Francisco, where the Valkyries won the series opener by 24 points. The winner advances to face the winner of Thursday’s Game 3 between the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever in the semi-finals.
