Phil Mickelson checked out of addiction treatment centre, rep confirms
Phil Mickelson has left a men's addiction treatment centre after seeking help for family trauma and addiction, his representative has confirmed.

Phil Mickelson has checked out of a men’s addiction treatment centre after seeking help for what his representative described as “family trauma and addiction”.
TMZ Sports first reported on Wednesday that the 56-year-old, six-time major champion had voluntarily entered the facility and has since left. A rep for the golfer confirmed to the California Post, via the NY Post, that he is now out of the programme, though it is unclear when he enrolled or how long he stayed.
“Phil was seeking treatment for family trauma and addiction,” the rep said in a statement. Reuters carried the same account, noting it could not immediately reach Mickelson’s team.
The LIV Golf player has barely competed in 2026, playing a single event — LIV Golf South Africa in March — before missing the 90th Masters in April and withdrawing from the PGA Championship, citing personal and family health matters, Golfweek reported.
In June, a spokeswoman said his priority was to become “the husband, father, and man his family deserves”. Mickelson was barred from a golf club in Rancho Santa Fe, California, after a female employee accused him of “nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact”; his spokeswoman said at the time that “some of the allegations circulating about Mr. Mickelson are false”.
He has previously spoken openly about addiction, saying in 2023 he had “crossed the line of moderation and into addiction” over gambling.
