Phil Taylor ends two-year retirement to reunite with Adrian Lewis in MODUS pairs

Phil Taylor is coming out of retirement. The 16-time world champion, 66, will end a near two-year absence from competitive darts to reunite with fellow two-time world champion Adrian Lewis in the MODUS Super Series International Pairs tournament in Portsmouth on 23-28 November. Taylor, who turned 66 in August, stepped away from competitive darts in 2024. His last competitive outing was the World Seniors Champion of Champions in Blackpool in March 2024. He quit the PDC pro ranks in January 2018 after losing the World Championship final to Rob Cross, and retired from the seniors circuit about two years ago citing an ongoing hip injury. (The Sun)

The comeback reunites one of darts’ great partnerships: Taylor and Lewis, both from Stoke-on-Trent, won a record four PDC World Cup of Darts titles for England between 2012 and 2016. It will be their first appearance as a pair in a decade. (The Sun)

Taylor told SPORTbible that Lewis was the only player he would return for: “It’s just the offer and something to do, plus playing with Aidy as well.
