No. 14 Tennessee beat Alabama 26-10 at Neyland Stadium, forcing four turnovers in a third straight home win over the Tide — and fans stormed the field, which could cost the Vols $500,000.
No. 14 Tennessee beat No. 7 Alabama 26-10 at Neyland Stadium on Saturday in the Third Saturday in October rivalry, riding a ferocious defensive performance to a third straight home win over the Crimson Tide.
The Volunteers’ defence never let Alabama lead, forcing four turnovers — including a strip-sack of quarterback Keelon Russell on the Tide’s first possession and a late end-zone interception that sealed it. Russell was held under 100 passing yards in his second touchdown-less game of the season, per USA Today.
On offence, sophomore quarterback George MacIntyre — making his second career start — completed 21 of 31 passes for 197 yards, leaning on running back DeSean Bishop, who rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Kicker Cooper Ranvier went 4-for-4 on field goals, all in the first half, per Knox News.
As the clock hit triple zero, Tennessee fans stormed the field to celebrate — a breach of the SEC’s access-to-competition-area policy that could cost the programme $500,000, per USA Today.
The win moves Tennessee to 6-1 (3-1 SEC) ahead of a trip to South Carolina on Oct. 24. Alabama (5-2, 3-2) has lost back-to-back games and three straight in Knoxville dating to 2022.
