Rockstar announces $400 GTA 6 collector's box — and the game isn't in it

Rockstar Games has opened pre-orders for a $399.99 (£349.99) Grand Theft Auto 6 collector’s box containing eleven pieces of merchandise — but no copy of the game itself.

The “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection” is a premium set built around Macca the Gator, a fictional TV show from the game’s Leonida setting. Rockstar’s own listing is blunt: the game is sold separately, with neither a physical disc nor a digital key in the box.

Inside the box: a six-inch Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment, matte black Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses, a New Era 9FORTY snapback, a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Vice City swizzle spoon, a razor-blade-style keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, an enamel pin set in a metal tin, premium stickers in a stash bag, and a double-sided souvenir poster of Leonida.

Pre-orders are open now through the Rockstar Store, limited to one per person. The box ships on 19 November 2026 — the same day GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game itself starts at $79.99 for the standard edition, with a $99.99 second tier.

Rockstar is not the first studio to sell a game-free collector’s bundle — Diablo 4 and Borderlands 4 have done similar — but the $400 price has drawn sharp criticism online.
