Meta Connect 2026 opens today with Zuckerberg evening keynote

Meta opens its annual Connect conference today at its Menlo Park campus, with Mark Zuckerberg giving an evening keynote on AI, AI glasses and VR.

Meta opens its annual Connect conference today, Wednesday 23 September, with an evening keynote from founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg at the company’s Menlo Park campus in California.

Meta describes the two-day event as a livestream showcase of its latest breakthroughs in AI technologies, AI glasses, VR and mobile, according to the company’s official Connect page. The developer state of the union follows on Thursday 24 September at 10am Pacific, with expert sessions on building for AI glasses, updates to the Wearables Device Access Toolkit and changes across Quest and Horizon platforms.

Meta’s official developer page lists the keynote at 5:00pm Pacific on Wednesday — 00:00 UTC Thursday, or 1am Thursday in the UK — while some previews reported 4pm Pacific. The event is free to attend virtually, with registration open on the Connect site.

Connect is Meta’s yearly stage for mixed-reality hardware, wearables and the software stack developers ship on. Meta announced the dates in a save-the-date post on 12 May, promising an evening keynote and developer sessions covering VR, wearables and AI.

This year’s sessions include Muse Spark AI development tracks and an open-weight model called Muse Glimmer for local AI agents, according to the published agenda, making AI development a confirmed part of the event alongside the hardware programme.
